Jerry M. Markowitz, co-founder and managing shareholder of the law firm of Markowitz Ringel Trusty + Hartog, participated as a faculty member for the fourth consecutive year in the ABI/St. John’s Bankruptcy Mediation Training on December 11-15, 2016 in New York City, a collaboration among three leaders in the field of bankruptcy education and mediation training: American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), St. John’s Center for Bankruptcy Studies and St. John’s Hugh L. Carey Center for Dispute Resolution.

Active in the community, Markowitz is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), regional co-chair of the ABI Endowment Fund and co-chair of the ABI Mediation Committee. He is a former president of the University of Miami Law Alumni Association, a founding member of the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the Southern District of Florida and a former co-chair of the ABI Southeast Bankruptcy Workshop. He received the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce Rising Star award in the Executive Star category in 2016 and Lifestyle Media Group’s Leaders in Law Award in the Bankruptcy Law category in 2015. Further, he received the Thomas Davison, III Memorial Service Award from the University of Miami Law Alumni Association, for outstanding service to the law school in 2013.
