Pro Bono

Can’t accept a pro bono case right now??? How about staffing one of our Pro Se Bankruptcy Clinics?

You can provide invaluable aid to the low income community in Miami-Dade County and receive pro bono credit for your efforts.

Seminar attendees watch a 45-minute video presentation on “Bankruptcy Basics”. Next, an attorney will lead a 30-45 minute discussion on general bankruptcy questions and procedures. Finally, attendees are able to spend about 20-30 minutes asking individual questions directly to an attorney.  Depending on the number of attendees and the number of volunteer attorneys, attendees will usually have about five minutes of personal time with a volunteer attorney.

Pro bono attorneys do NOT represent the individuals and take no responsibility for the case.

Interested in a clinic???  Hurry because these clinics fill up fast…Email info@dadecountyprobono.org today!!  Upcoming dates are:  September 17, October 22, November 19, and December 10.  All clinics run from 12 pm to 2 pm.

Location:
Bankruptcy Courthouse
51 SW 1 Avenue, Courtroom 1410

The BBA, along with the judges for the Southern District are committed to making high quality pro bono representation available to indigent bankruptcy clients. The need for volunteers is extraordinary in these difficult economic times. Our members generously give of their time in Chapter 7, Chapter 13 and Adversary Proceeding settings. Our pro bono work is done in coordination with Put Something Back, who evaluates the financial qualifications of the clients and then makes the assignments to our members for representation. We are proud of the ready willingness of our members to do their share in this important mission. Experienced mentors are available for new members who are just starting out and the University of Miami Law School provides students to work on pro bono cases along with our members. We hope all of our members will join in this very important effort. To sign up for the pro bono cases, please complete the form and return it to Laura Silverman. Thank You.
